The games of the mind

Day 3

03.01.2011 : 10.10 PM

I don’t know why, for me, the first working day of a new year has always been different from all the following days of the year. It is the same route to reach office, same traffic at junctions, same people around your office premises, same tasks to perform, but the feeling is as if it’s your first day in a new office. I wonder, if it’s the mind that cleans the slate and hands you a new chalk to write the next chapter of your destiny. Today was no different and I managed to draw a few lines and brought in the New Year in my professional space.

I believe you have to be gifted to gain someone’s trust no sooner you have met them. Being in sales, I consider gaining a person’s faith in your first meeting is the premise you base your entire pitch on. The buyer buys your belief first and then your product. The reason I recount this “how to sell” talk could be the flurry of sales closures I was involved in the run up to the New Year. Most of them were closed either over phones or whistlestop visits to the prospects place. Many were first time buyers and had only heard of the company and its product but never experienced the service up close. I only said what they wanted to hear, to trust me and I will deliver. Every sale starts with the exchange of trust and gets closed on the edifice of faith.

I am thoroughly enjoying this affair with my blog. It’s only our third date and I long to meet her next day and nibble sweet nothings.

Awaiting the morrow…lots of things lined up ….. more grist to the mill…!!
